Sunday fun Gatorade Race 6 St.Kilda

As I said, I have chosen to participate in 2 sprint races to get some real hard training sessions. And with the upcoming Olympics, there were many athletes among the participants in Sunday’s race that would be trying for a spot. I was not expecting a podium finish especially when distance was 750m swimming, 20km cycling (draft)and 5km run.

I didn’t have the best swim start and lost the first group a little early than I had expected. So with 45sec from the front after swimming, there was nothing else to do but give it a little gas on cycling. I managed to catch up with the front group after 11km. I chose to breakaway soon after, hoping to have a few follow but none would go with me and then we were together again.
It might be that I’m not good at short course, but I do know that it is best to get off the bike first. So with high speed I managed to come in first to the stop line with 25 right behind me.
I did however loose a few places in transition and then on the run as my legs are not really made for 3:00min per km pace!!
I finished in14th pace, which I can live with, it was a tough workout!!

On Sunday it looked like a workout, because it is good practice I’ve heard.

Søndag sjov Gatorade Race 6 St. Kilda

Som sagt har jeg valgt at deltage i 2 sprint stævner far at får nogle rigtige hårde træningspas. Og med kommende OL atleter blandt deltagerne i søndags stævne, regnede jeg ikke ligefrem med en top placering, speciel da distancen var 750m svømning 20km cykling (draft) og 5km løb.

Havde ikke den bedste svømme start og tabte 1 gruppe lidt tidligt end var jeg havde regnet med. Så med 45sek fra front efter svømning, var der ikke andet at give den lidt gas på cykling. Det lykkes at komme op til front gruppen efter 11km. Valgte at gå i udbrud kort efter i håbet om at få et par stykker med. Men der var ikke nogle der ville gå med, og vi blev samlet igen.

Det kan godt være at jeg ikke er god til kort distance. Men ved dog at det er bedst at komme af cyklen først. Så med høj fart lykkes det mig at komme først til stop linen med 25 lige efter mig.

Tabte dog en del placeringer i skiftezonen og starten af løbet, da mine ben ikke rigtigt er skruet sammen til 3:00min pr km.

Kom i mål som nr.14 hvilket jeg godt kan leve med, da det jo var en hård træningspas.

På søndag står det på en lignede træningspas, for det er jo godt at øve har jeg hørt.

Over the next 3 weekends I will do some races, so I can get my body up in gear again.

The first two races is on Sprint distance and to top it off they are both draft legal :-) which means I will have 1 hour in red zone but will hopeful get some benefit later on in the season.


So on Sunday I’m racing the last race in the Gatorade Series in St. Kilda (750-20-5), where some of the young Australian ITU guys will be racing.

The weekend after it is the last race in Xosize Series there is in Brighton on same distance and rules.


The last race which is also my last weekend in OZ, will be Triman in Torquay, which is a ½ IM so when I come back to Europe I will be back in top gear.

Back in training

After Challenge Wanaka in January, I had a good break, as I really want to be on fire at the end of the year, where there is some important races.

It would be a sad thing to run out of stem, before you are standing on the start line.

On holiday 2011

Right now I’m doing swim squad 4 times a week under swim coach Buddy Portier. There is not so much technical work, but more speed work which is hard to do alone.

I am also back with core and running, and when running I do not feel anything from the injury I did have in the end of last year which is good.

Biking is going well, it is still a little bit off form, but I’m sure it will soon be back in place, right when I am going to need it…
