PRESS RELEASE

Triathlon Western Australia are delighted to announce that the 2012 Ironman Western Australia Champion Jimmy Johnsen will make a return to Busselton as he takes on the SunSmart Ironman 70.3 Busselton to be held on Saturday 11th May 2013.

I am really excited to be coming back to Busselton. I love this area and the races put on here. With my win at the Ironman in December, coming back brings so many great memories, so I’m definitely looking forward to getting on the course. It should be a great race but also a great Triathlon Festival. It’s events like this that help develop our sport, so I’m very happy to be part of that.”

Vocal about his love for the Busselton region and triathlon events, the Dane Johnsen will travel from his home base in Melbourne to take on some of the countries best athletes.

With my Kona qualification pretty well sorted, I am now switching my focus to the 70.3 circuit with the aim of qualifying for the 70.3 World Champs in Vegas. After Ironman Melbourne I looked at my schedule and it was an easy choice. Obviously the memories from December are still in my mind, but Busso has always been a special place for me, I also competed in my very first Pro Ironman race in Busselton and got my first podium so it’s great to be returning.”

Jimmy will join over 3000 participants who will take on the SunSmart Ironman 70.3 Busselton Triathlon, which is currently the largest event of its type in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere.

It is also part of the SunSmart Busselton Festival of Triathlon on the 11th May 2013.
